Classroom Rules
1. Be Respectful
2. Always Put Forth Your Best Effort
3. Be Responsible For Your Own Learning
4. Treat Others The Way You Want To Be Treated
On the first day of school, I will establish a set of classroom rules with my students. As a group, we will only create a list of 3-5 rules to keep the process simple and concise so that my students can remember them (Wong, 2004). The way I would go about creating our rules would be first by showing the students there is no classroom rules listed in my room because we are going to create them together based off of their ideal classroom they would like to be in, which makes the students feel that they are in control and have some say in our community we are building together (Wong, 2004). I would pose the question, “why do you believe we have rules?” so that students have a base to start thinking at. Based off of the student’s answers, we will create a set of classroom rules together (Wong, 2004). After the classroom set of rules are made, I will have each person come up and sign the bottom of the poster to ensure that they will be held accountable to these particular set of rules we have created. The poster with our rules will be held at the front of the board where every student can see them (Wong, 2004).
